I'm not one who normally believes in ghosts or the supernatural, but
I must tell you this story.
Whether or not you choose to believe it, is up to you. Shortly before
opening, I was in the theater rehearsing when I thought I heard music
coming from the Parlor. I ignored it, thinking it was my mind playing
tricks on me, and went back to my rehearsal. A few minutes later I
heard the music again and decided to investigate. As I walked down
the steps into the Parlor, the music grew louder... suddenly, I noticed
a ghostly apparition seated at the piano. I was stunned, but oddly
enough, not afraid. As I approached the piano, the apparition turned
to me and introduced herself. She said her name was Annabelle and
began to tell me her story.
Annabelle Mason and her fiancé John Ford, a brave whaling captain,
lived in Lahaina in the mid-1800s. Every year, Captain Ford would
leave his beloved for months at a time to hunt the great whale. Annabelle
watched daily for his ship to return and upon seeing it, would run
down to the parlor and play Captain Ford's favorite melody, escorting
his ship safely into the harbor.
On April 15th, 1853, as Annabelle sat gazing at the harbor, a message
was delivered informing her that Captain Ford's ship had been lost
at sea. Annabelle was grief stricken, but refused to give up hope.
She began playing Captain Ford's melody night and day, hoping to encourage
the ill-fated ship back to the safety of Lahaina.
Sadly, Annabelle's efforts were in vain. Eventually she wasted away,
alone and brokenhearted at her piano.
Who's to say what led Annabelle back to the exact location of her
once happy home? All I know is she loves playing the piano, and the
few times I've seen her, she's had a smile on her face and a twinkle
in her eye. So watch closely, my friends, for she doesn't appear often
and she doesn't stay long, but tonight could be the night...
Many people have reported unexpected good luck after meeting Annabelle
so feel free to ask her a question or request a favorite song. |
